TOKYO (Nov. 14, 2008) — Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. and Teck Fu Joint Venture Co. Ltd. will build a natural rubber processing factory in Surat Thani Province in southern Thailand.
Construction of the factory will begin in January and the operation should start in October, the companies said.
The joint venture, called Y.T. Rubber Co. Ltd., and capitalized at $2.86 million, is 95-percent owned by Yokohama and 5 percent by Teck Fu. The companies said the firms will invest about $10.4 million to build the plant, which will have an annual production capacity of 36,000 metric tons.
Teck Fu is a subsidiary of Teck Bee Hang Co. Ltd., an NR processing company in Thailand. Yokohama Rubber said it aims for stable supply and quality of the material by operating its own factory.
