HOUSTON (Nov. 14, 2008) — A.J. “Art” Sullivan of ExxonMobil Chemical and Gian Tommaso Viola of Polimeri Europa have been selected as winners of the International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers' highest honors.
Sullivan, vice president of the Tire Industry Business Unit at ExxonMobil, will receive the General Award, presented to a person who has contributed to the synthetic rubber industry and the institute. Viola, who has worked for Montedison and Enichem, managing the latter companies Anionic Department from 1986-1995. He is known for his research and development work on solution polymers, specifically reaction kinetics, and also developed a new hydrogenation catalyst.
The IISRP will present the awards to the pair at its 50 the anniversary meeting, held the week of May 11 in New York City.
