GUANGZHOU, China (Nov. 10, 2008) — Bayer MaterialScience has opened a polyurethane systems house in Guangzhou.
The new plant, which started up Nov. 7, is the firm's 30th such operation globally. Peter Vanacker, head of the Polyurethanes Business Unit, said that by 2015, China will have become the largest polyurethanes market in the world.
Vanacker said that despite the current economic downturn, which led to substantial reductions in Bayer's capacity utilization, the firm continues “to believe in the long-term high growth potential of polyurethane systems globally and in particular in China.”
