PORTLAND, Maine (Nov. 10, 2008) – Rubber and chicken don't mix, Barber Foods Co. has found.
The company is recalling 41,415 pounds of frozen chicken products after consumers complained of finding pieces of rubber in the products. The U.S. Department of Agriculture said the recall applies to selected stuffed chicken Kiev products sold under the Schwan's label and made available for catalog or Internet purchase from Schwan's Home Service Inc.
Officials said a number of customers complained to the Portland-based company about finding pieces of rubber in the products. No injuries have been reported, nor an explanation of how the rubber ended up in the packages.
