MOSCOW (Nov. 7, 2008)—Pirelli & C. S.p.A. and Russian Technologies State Corp. have formed a joint venture to build a plant for passenger and truck tires in Russia.
The facility will have initial annual manufacturing capacity of about 4.2 million units, for a joint investment of about $384 million. It will be built in the Russian region of Samara, whose government supports the project.
Pirelli said it expects to begin construction work on the factory by summer of 2009, with initial production in 2010.
