AKRON (Oct. 29, 2008) — Goodyear said it will halt commercial truck tire production temporarily at its Danville, Va., and Topeka, Kan., plants for one week each in November and December.
A spokeswoman for the Akron-based tire maker said the Danville plant will cease truck tire production the weeks of Nov. 8 and Dec. 6. The Topeka plant will stop producing those tires the weeks of Nov. 3 and Dec. 1.
The production suspensions are needed to align output with reduced customer demand, she said. The company will continue to manufacture aircraft tires at the Danville plant and giant OTR tires at the Topeka plant.
The company has not made any plans for temporary closings or production stops beyond 2008, the spokeswoman said.
