NASHVILLE (Oct. 29, 2008) — Bridgestone/Firestone is voluntarily recalling about 162,000 tires made at its facility in San Jose, Costa Rica, because they don't meet the firm's standards for tread base gauge.
The recall includes 135,000 Firestone FR380 tires, size P235/75 R15, and 27,000 Firestone LeMans Champion SE tires, size P235/75 R15.
Continued of the tires may lead to vibration and groove cracking, BFS said in a press release. There have been no property damage or personal injury claims filed in connection with these tires, the company said.
BFS will replace the tires free of charge at any company-owned stores in the U.S. or any independent Firestone dealers in Canada, the company said. The cost of the recall to the company wasn't given.
