BRUSSELS, Belgium (Oct. 8, 2008) — Bridgestone Europe said it is planning two further expansions of its logistics center in Zeebrugge, Belgium.
The center has been expanded twice since it opened in 1998. The first phase of the new project will be the construction of a 194,000-sq.-ft warehouse, and the second an additional 215,000-sq.-ft. warehouse.
Altogether, the project will cost about $114 million and add 40 jobs to the staff of 140.
The center today has a maximum storage capacity of 1.1 million tires.
Bridgestone said the expansions will help it to streamline distribution to dealer networks in the Benelux, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Scandinavia.
