TORONTO, Quebec (Oct. 1, 2008) – The Toronto Community Foundation is distributing $231,922 to local projects as part of the latest settlement in a class action lawsuit involving pricefixing by manufacturers of EPDM rubber.
The monetary distribution is one way the Canadaian courts compensate consumers affected by class action lawsuits, said Rahul Bhardwaj, president and CEO at Toronto Community Foundation
Overall, community foundations in Canada have paid out more than $1.2 million to charities from various class action settlements, according to Monica Patten, president and CEO of the Community Foundations of Canada.
