SOUTH GATE, Calif. (Sept. 29, 2008) — Arnco Inc. is marketing an environmentally friendly flat-proofing fill material it claims uses renewable components and consumes 50-percent less petrochemicals in the production process.
The ecofil product performs similar to existing polyurethane fill, costs less than comparable Arnco products and is not flammable, according to the company. The new product is expected eventually to replace the company's line of traditional polyurethane fills, a spokesman said.
“For years we have been dependent on petrochemicals as a major component of our patented polyurethane technology, and for years we have been trying to end that dependency. Now we have taken the first step,” said Arnco President Larry Carapellotti.
