FINDLAY, Ohio (Sept. 25, 2008) — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has been forced to curtail production from Sept. 23-28 at all its North American facilities because of continuing raw materials shortages in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, according to Curtis Schneekloth, Cooper director of investor relations.
“This is a fluid situation, and we are dependent on our suppliers' ability to supply raw materials,” Mr. Schneekloth said in a prepared statement. “Cooper will try to maintain industry-leading fill rates during this period.”
Cooper expects production to resume at least at some level at its facilities on Monday, Sept. 29, Mr. Schneekloth said. Not all facilities were shut down, but all had at least some curtailments, he added.
