HOUSTON (Sept. 22, 2008) — The Houston main offices of the International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers remain closed nine days after Hurricane Ike made landfall, according to the IISRP Web site.
“The Houston office of the IISRP will be closed until further notice due to damage from Hurricane Ike,” a message on the home page of the Web site states. “If you have ordered a publication be advised we are unable to process orders at this time.” Calls to the IISRP main office line went unanswered Sept. 22.
Hurricane Ike, a Category 2 storm with top winds of 110 mph, hit the Texas Gulf Coast early Sept. 13 and swept through nine states.
