TOKYO (Sept. 3, 2008) — Bridgestone Corp. has created Bridgestone Off-The-Road Tire Peru S.A.C., a Lima, Peru-based sales company specializing in tires for mining and construction equipment in Peru.
Bridgestone previously sold OTR tires to customers in Peru through Bridgestone Off-The-Road Tire Latin America S.A., a sales company in Chile set up to handle sales and services of such tires for mines in Central and South America, specifically in Peru, Chile and Mexico.
However, Bridgestone said, because of continuing large-scale investment projects in Peru's mining industry, that country has been positioned as a key market for OTR tires. Establishing the Peru OTR tire sales company ties in with Bridgestone's project to increase large OTR tire capacity at its Kitakyushu, Japan, plant.
The new company, technically a subsidiary of the Chilean company, has a start-up capital of $1 million and 10 employees.
