NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 22, 2008) — Bridgestone/Firestone is conducting a voluntary recall of 4,202 specialty motorcycle tires in the U.S. on behalf of parent Bridgestone Corp.
BFS announced another recall Aug. 22 for 2,100 Bridgestone Dueler tires.
BFS said the motorcycle tires have no structural or performance safety issues, but they may be missing various sidewall marking requirements. The tires, made in Japan, are missing the DOT symbol, the maximum load rating, inflation pressure markings and other information, the company said.
The affected tires are Accolade, sizes 4.00-18, 3.50-19, 3.50-18; Battlax 90/90-10, 3.50-10; RS10 2.50-17; and SP Universal 3.50-8.
The tires were sold in the replacement market through motorcycle shops and not as original equipment. BFS said the tires will not be exported to the U.S. in the future.
Consumers can return the tires to their motorcycle dealer locations for replacements. The recall will continue through Nov. 30. For more information, visit http://www.motorcycle-karttires.com/index.aspx.
