LEVERKUSEN, Germany (Aug. 18, 2008) — Lanxess A.G. is seeking a new site for its headquarters, most likely near its existing headquarters in Leverkusen.
The company said it expects to complete the relocation of about 500 senior staff by 2011 and is seriously considering the Cologne, Germany, area.
Key management functions at Lanxess are currently located in a number of buildings throughout the Leverkusen Chempark, which houses many of Bayer A.G.'s operations, Lanxess said, and the capacities for suitable office space and parking are exhausted.
Current planning is for about 500 of the nearly 8,000 Lanxess employees in Germany to relocate to the new building, which is to be financed preferably by an external investor.
Lanxess said it will continue to employ people at the Leverkusen site.
