BERTHOLD, N.D. (Aug. 12, 2008) — Delta-Energy L.L.C., which recycles tires into carbon black and oil, has expanded its production capacity by 50 percent at its Berthold plant.
The facility now can convert 5,250 tons of tire shred annually, up from the previous 3,500 tons, according to Bill Cole, Delta-Energy vice president of product management. Demand for the company's Phoenix Black, which supplements the use of virgin carbon black as a versatile, lower-cost reinforcing agent in rubber product manufacturing, occasioned the capacity increase, according to Cole.
Delta-Energy hopes to break ground on a second processing plant in Greene County, Pa., by the end of the year and is investigating sites in the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast for further facilities, Cole said.
