BIRMINGHAM, England (Aug. 12, 2008) — Goodyear Dunlop Tyres U.K. Ltd. has been fined $25,633 and $5,484 in costs health and safety violations involving an injured worker.
The Birmingham-based company pleaded guilty on Aug. 8 for failing to take reasonable care for the health and safety of employees as required by law. The incident involved an operator who was inspecting tire casings on June 15, 2007. A forklift truck loaded with unsecured heavy steel pallets passed by and some pallets fell onto the worker, causing two fractures to one of his ribs.
The employee will receive a payment of $7,595 from Goodyear Dunlop Tyres.
