HELSINKI, Finland (Aug. 7, 2008) —Nokian Tyres P.L.C. reported a 44.2-percent increase in operating earnings on a 22.6-percent rise in sales in the first half.
The tire company said much of its growth came from sales of winter passenger tires in Russia and neighboring nations, while demand also was strong in Nordic countries. The firm's operating profits reached $198.9 on sales of $820.1 million in the half.
