QUINCY, Ill. (July 1, 2008) — Titan Tire Corp. will begin commercial production of 63-inch steel-belted radial mining tires the week of July 7 at its Bryan, Ohio, plant.
The first set out of the molds are destined for a tar-sands mining customer in Canada, the company said.
Titan's goal this year to ship at least 900 of the giant mining tires, according to Maurice Taylor Jr., Titan International Inc. chairman and CEO
Titan budgeted $30 million last year to add capacity at the Bryan plant for the 57- and 63-inch off-the-road tires. Capacity for the oversize OTR tires is expected to be 15,000 units a year, once the expansion project is complete.
Taylor said in the past adding these giant tires to Titan's portfolio could generate up to $240 million in new annual sales, counting revenue from both tires and wheels.
