CALGARY, Canada (June 6, 2008) — Hedy Canada said it has suspended sales and is recalling its non-sterile, lightly powdered, latex medical examination, following press reports the gloves were contaminated with insects and insect larvae.
The company has sent the recall notification to dealers and suppliers and is fully cooperating with HealthCanada.
“While we agree with Health Canada that the direct risk to health is considered low, we have chosen to implement the voluntary recall as part of our quality control program,” said Brent Rusk, managing director for Hedy. “We take all quality issues very seriously and we feel this action is appropriate to address the concerns of our customers and the public.”
The voluntary recall of these gloves has no impact on other products distributed by Hedy.
