AKRON (June 5, 2008) — Bridgestone/Firestone (BFS) has narrowed its choices for the location of a new technical center to two locations—one in Akron's Firestone Park neighborhood and one in Murfreesboro, Tenn., a suburb of Nashville.
The Nashville-based tire maker ruled out three other proposals this week, eliminating Nashville and an alternate site in Akron from contention as well as the possibility of renovating its current facility in Akron.
BFS initially hoped by the end of May to decide whether the center would remain in Akron or be relocated to the Nashville area, but plans are taking longer than expected.
