VILLEJUST, France (May 27, 2008) — Eliokem has hiked prices by as much as 13 percent for its emulsion polymerized polymers and latices produced at its Valia, India, plant.
The company said the sharp escalation in raw material costs—particularly butadiene monomer—caused it to increase its own prices.
The price hikes will be for Chemigum nitrile polymers, NBR/PVC polyblends in sheet and pellet forms; and Pliolite high styrene butadiene rubber masterbatches and Pliolite styrene-butadiene Latices.
Eliokem CEO Jacques Collonge said strong demand and the continued increases in raw materials, energy, chemicals, transportation and labor mean further price adjustments in June and the third quarter can't be ruled out.
