SARNIA, Ontario (May 12, 2008) — Lanxess Inc. will relocate its Butyl Rubber Business Unit polymer research group to the University of Western Ontario.
Lanxess signed an agreement with the London, Ontario-based university, which is building a multi-tenant facility aiming to create a global center for material research. The relocation from its Sarnia site is expected to be complete by the end of 2009.
The new facility will have global responsibility for the research and development of butyl and butyl-like elastomers and will have access to the university's resources. The firm's rubber manufacturing sites in Belgium, Canada and Singapore will be supported from the London facility.
