BAHADURGARH, India (April 18, 2008) – Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. said it has purchased 25 acres of land about 28 miles west of Dehli, India, a few weeks after refuting reports it agreed to build a tire plant in that vicinity.
A Yokohama official had called the stories in the Indian press in early April “prematuare,” and that it was considering a variety of locations for a new tire plant.
The Japanese company didn't say why it bought the land, but noted the site at the Industrial Estate Bahadurgarh will be connected to Delhi via a subway in 2010. The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corp. operates the estate.
