AKRON (April 9, 2008) – The ACS Rubber Division has found a sponsor for its 5K Run/Walk event at its biannual meetings – H.M. Royal Inc.
The company stepped up to sponsor the event this year at the spring meeting in Dearborn, Mich., and at future division meetings, after no 5K Run/Walk was held at last fall's meeting.
“The 5K was such a tradition at past meetings that we are proud to bring it back and assure the tradition will continue for many meetings to come,” said Joe Royal, president of H.M. Royal.
The event at the division's spring meeting will take place April 29, beginning at 6:30 a.m. Participants will be transferred from the lobby of the Hyatt Regency hotel to the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus, to run or walk on a flat, well-marked bike path overlooking the Henry Ford estate.
Prizes will be given to the top male and female finishers, and all participants will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt, Royal said.
People who register for the meeting can do so for the event at the same time. Royal said anyone who shows up on race day can sign up, too.
Plans are under way for the 5K event to be held in Louisville, Ky., at the fall division meeting, Oct. 14-16.
Also helping sponsor the event are Akzo Nobel Polymer Chemicals, Columbian Chemicals Co., Horsehead Corp., Imerys, Rohm and Haas Chemicals L.L.C., SI Group Inc. and Solvay Solexis Inc.
