Experts from business, government and academia worldwide will speak at the Second Annual ``From Scrap to Profit'' recycled rubber and plastics symposium, scheduled for May 6-7 in San Diego.
Featured speakers include Michael Blumenthal, vice president of symposium co-sponsor Rubber Manufacturers Association, on ``Environmental and Human Health Hot Topics.''
Anil K. Bhowmick, a professor at the Rubber Technology Center of the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India, will speak on the utilization of waste rubber in virgin rubber and plastics. On a similar topic, Joey Mead, professor of plastics engineering at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, will discuss making products from rubber-plastic compounds.
Business leaders at the conference will include Sam Kauffman, president of Edge Rubber Co. in Chambersburg, Pa., speaking on the range of opportunities and equipment in making molded and extruded recycled rubber products; Stan Esposito, production manager for Holz Rubber Co., Lodi, Calif., on using ground rubber feedstock for a diverse product line; and Greg Graham, vice president of Modular Rubber Drains Inc. in Visalia, Calif., on expanding his business through developing a new blended rubber-plastic product.
