GEISMAR, La. (April 3, 2008) — BASF Corp. said it will close for about six weeks its production unit at its Geismar site that makes diols and derivatives, some of which are used in polyurethanes and adhesives.
The company said the normal, scheduled shutdown will begin in the second half of May, and maintenance should be done by early July.
The products affected will be 1,4, butanediol; THF; Poly THF; n-methylpyrrolidone; n-vinylpyrrolidone; and specialty pyrrolidones.
