BRESCIA, Italy (April 2, 2008) — HT Italy, a distributor of Chinese-made equipment, has acquired Italian injection molding machinery maker MIR at an auction for about $15 million.
HT Italy is based in Cazzago and plans to close that operation and concentrate manufacturing at the MIR plant in Brescia, according to Pietro Nicolazzi, HT Italy managing director. The Cazzago site covers 301,000 square feet, and when it reaches full operation in fall will employ 30-35.
MIR closed in 2006.
HT Italy is the Italian distributor for machinery made by Ningbo Haitian Group Co. Ltd. of Ningbo, China. Chinese Haitian machines are modified to incorporate Italian controls and any special options required by the customer at either Ningbo Haitian in China or by Haitian Europe, which is located on the same site as HT Italy.
There were no other bidders at the auction.
