PHILADELPHIA (April 1, 2008) — Rohm and Haas Co. has completed the acquisition of the polymer dispersions division of OY Forcit A.B. for about $85 million.
The unit, Finndisp, makes water-based emulsions for paints, coatings, lacquers and adhesives.
The acquisition includes a plant in Hanko, Finland, and another under construction in Ramenskoye, Russia, near Moscow.
Rohm and Haas said it wants to expand the Ramenskoye factory to include acrylic emulsions and polyacrylic acid dispersions used in detergent and industrial applications. It is expected to be on-stream in late 2009.
