SAN DIEGO (March 25, 2008) — The California Integrated Waste Management Board is sponsoring an International Tire Conference May 5-9 in San Diego.
The event will promote effective management of scrap tires, reduction of greenhouse gases and cooperative relations with Mexico, the board said.
The centerpiece of the conference will be the Scrap-to-Profit Symposium May 6-7, co-sponsored by the California board, the Rubber Manufacturers Association, the Asphalt Rubber Technology Service of Clemson University and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
Other days will feature workshops for manufacturers and marketers of various scrap tire goods including playground surfacing and civil engineering applications, as well as meetings covering environmental education and the U.S.-Mexico Border Scrap Tire Integrated Management Initiative.
