TOKYO (Feb. 25, 2008) — Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. has named Takao Oishi president and CEO of its U.S. subsidiary, Yokohama Tire Corp., succeeding Norio Karashima, who is returning to Japan.
Yokohama also named Tooru Kobayashi a director and managing corporate officer.
Karashima is taking on several new assignments for the parent company while retaining his post as president of Yokohama Corp. of America. The changes take place April 1.
Oishi is executive vice president of Yokohama Tire, responsible for management information systems, original equipment sales, strategic marketing and operations. He moved to Yokohama Tire in 2007 from Germany, where he was president of Yokohama Europe.
A 31-year company veteran, Karashi-ma has been Yokohama Tire's top executive since June 2004. He will return to the company's headquarters in Tokyo to become managing corporate officer in charge of Yokohama's Off-the-Road Tire & Aircraft Tire Division, Tire Logistics Division, Tire North America Business Department and general manager of the Tire Planning Division.
Kobayashi currently is in charge of the Off-the-Road Tire & Aircraft Tire and Tire Logistics divisions, and general manager of the Tire Planning Division.
