NIZHNY NOVGOROD, Russia (March 7, 2008) — Through an agreement with Canada-based Magna International Inc., Jyco Sealing Technologies will provide thermoplastic vulcanizate seals for all of the Russian-made Chrysler Sebring's inner belts and sills.
Gorky Automobile Factory recently purchased the tooling for the previous generation of the Sebring to manufacture the vehicle in Nizhny Novgorod, an industrial/technology center east of Moscow. Gorky will market the vehicle under its own brand.
Production estimates of 25,000 vehicles for year one are expected to grow to 65,000 vehicles within three years.
Shawn Jyawook, Jyco's chief operating officer, said Gorky wasn't familiar with TPVs, and once Magna saw the cost advantages and the potential quality enhancements, they recommended the TPV transition to Gorky.
