LE CASTELLET, France (March 7, 2008) — Michelin will continue to use the Michelin Energy Endurance Challenge to promote vehicle fuel efficiency.
The program was introduced this year in the Le Mans Series endurance racing competition.
Based on results over six races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Michelin will reward teams in each LMS category using an Energy Efficiency Index that combines performance and energy consumption for a fuel-efficiency rating.
Results for the challenge will be based on an energy efficiency index that has been revised for this year's event and will be calculated as the ratio between the car's average speed, excluding pit stops, and its average fuel consumption, the company said.
