AKRON (Feb. 20, 2008) — Goodyear has been named one of the "100 Best Corporate Citizens" in the current issue of "CRO," (Corporate Responsibility Officer) magazine.
It is the first time the Akron-based tire maker has made the list in the nine years the ranking has been compiled of the top corporate citizens among public companies with U.S. headquarters. Coming in at No. 72, Goodyear was the only tire company to make the top 100.
"CRO" — in partnership with IW Financial, a Portland, Maine, research and consulting firm in environment, social and governance issues — compiled the list based on ranking the corporate responsibility efforts of large-cap companies in eight categories: climate change; employee relations; environment; financial; governance; human rights; lobbying; and philanthropy
