RED BANK, N.J. (Feb. 11, 2008) — Financial results of virtually all of Ansell Ltd.´s product segments improved during the first six months of fiscal 2007, and the company recorded gains in both earnings and sales.
Net income jumped 26 percent to $54.7 million during the period, which ended Dec. 31. Sales increased 16 percent jump to almost $533 million during the span.
In the firm´s disposable glove segment, sales rose almost 14 percent to $51.5 million, but rubber latex sales were flat, according to Ansell CEO Doug Tough, who said growth within the unit came from its synthetics business.
Strong synthetic glove sales helped spur improvement in the professional surgeons´ glove business as sales jumped 19 percent to about $11 million.
A sharp rise in nitrile glove sales helped boost synthetic examination glove revenues almost 30 percent to $27.4 million.
