CHICAGO (Feb. 7, 2008) — Bridgestone/Firestone introduced two Bridgestone Potenza performance tires — the Potenza G019 Grid and RE760 Sport — Feb. 7 at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show.
The firm said the new tires will be available in the spring.
The Potenza G019 Grid incorporates BFS´ Uni-T technology for enhanced handling, cornering and all-season traction in wet, dry or snowy conditions, the Nashville, Tenn.-based tire maker said.
Available in April in H- and V-speed ratings, the Grid is aimed at the high- and ultra-high performance markets and will come in 27 sizes in 15- to 18-inch rim diameters in the 65 to 40 series.
The UHP Potenza RE760 Sport, an evolution of BFS´ Potenza RE750, delivers improved response and control, and better cornering and straight stability, linearity and grip than its predecessor, the company said. The tire, available to the public March 1, offers an asymmetrical rigid tread design to facilitate high cornering force at a low steering angle.
Both tires, draped with NFL football jerseys, were unveiled at the tire maker´s auto show booth during a lunchtime "Tailgate Party" event featuring former Tennessee Titans star and Heisman trophy winner Eddie George, a Bridgestone-brand celebrity spokesman. BFS is the sole tire company sponsor of the 2008 Chicago Auto Show.
