DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 5, 2008) — Goodyear has announced its "Goodyear Racing and Diversity Program" designed to provide minority high school students with an opportunity to experience the career paths offered by NASCAR.
The Akron-based tire maker, which is exclusive tire supplier to NASCAR´s three largest racing series, is offering more than 60 interested minority students the opportunity to work as interns at the race tracks in Daytona Beach, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit and Dover, Del.
Announcing the program in Daytona Beach, Goodyear officials introduced the program´s first two interns, Eboni Washington and Rodrigo Bernal, who will work in their fields of interest with established professionals before and during the 50th running of the Daytona 500 Feb. 17.
Washington, Bernal and the other interns also will be in the running for one $30,000 academic scholarship and five $2,000 scholarships.
