MIDLAND, Mich. (Jan. 30, 2008) — SCG-Dow Group is finalizing plans to build a specialty elastomer plant at the firm´s Map Ta Phut site in Thailand.
The joint venture of Dow Chemical Co. and Siam Cement Public Co. Ltd. has not set a date to launch construction of the facility, which will supply customers in the Asia-Pacific region with elastomers and plastomers, but the company does expect to complete the plant in 2011, a spokeswoman said.
The new plant is expected to receive feedstock from an olefin plant Dow Chemical and Siam Cement are building in Map Ta Phut that´s expected to begin operating in 2010, according to Cholanat Yanaranop, president of SCG Chemicals.
