MOSCOW (Jan. 28, 2008) — JSC Sibur has said it intends to spend $177 million in the rubber sector as part of its investment plan for 2008.
The company said it will continue exploring the feasibility of new thermoplastics and halogenated butyl rubber projects.
Plans include optimization and installation of automatic control systems, transition of polybutadiene rubber process to neodymium catalyst system and a refrigerating plant project.
The company said it produced 553,000 metric tons of elastomers in 2007 and expects this to rise to 595,000 in 2008.
