WESTBURY, England (Jan. 24, 2008) — Avon Rubber said it has failed to sell its Westbury mixing operation, and plans to close the unit and sell the assets.
The shutdown in March will cost about 60 jobs, a spokeswoman said.
In November Avon said it would shut down the plant if a buyer couldn't be found.
"In the absence of any sale of this operation being concluded, we are now starting the process of closure," said Avon Rubber Chairman Richard Needham.
