TOKYO (Jan. 22, 2008) — Bridgestone Corp. has allotted $94.3 million over three years to expand capacity nearly 20 percent at its Nong Khae, Thailand, passenger tire plant.
Bridgestone said the increase in capacity, to 36,500 units a day by year-end 2010, is necessary to meet sales growth in Thailand and export markets.
Tires produced at the 13-year-old Nong Khae plant are for both the domestic and export markets, including to customers in Asia, Europe and North America, Tokyo-based Bridgestone said. The project includes expanded capacity for ultra-high-performance and winter tires to support growing international demand for those products.
The Nong Khae plant is one of three in Thailand operated by Thai Bridgestone Co. Ltd.
