HEERLEN, Netherlands (Jan. 16, 2008) — DSM N.V. has purchased polyurethane resins producer Soluol Inc. for an undisclosed sum.
Soluol is a 77-year-old firm that posts annual sales of about $20 million, DSM said, and recently opened a plant in East Providence, where it is based. The company makes water- and solvent-based PU resins, used primarily in paints and coatings for concrete, metal, wood and plastics applications.
The firm also offers urethanes with bonding properties for the adhesives sector and other specialty products used in the conversion of foils, and in paper, plastics, and blister packaging.
Both firms declined to reveal financial details of the sale.
DSM said Soluol gives it new technology and a state-of-the-art factory in North America.
