FULDA, Germany (Jan. 14, 2008) — Goodyear said its Fulda plant was shut down for 24 hours as a result of defective gear in an extruder.
The company said this was the first time an incident like this has happened.
A Goodyear spokeswoman said there won´t be any economic or financial effects on the company.
Goodyear said it maintains every comprehensive and sufficient system of quality and process control systems and regular maintenance systems, which allowed the firm to control the incident quickly and efficiently.
The money to replace the faulty equipment will be covered by the company's existing maintenance budget, the spokeswoman said.
