BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Jan. 9, 2008) — Bridgestone/Firestone plans to spend at least $12 million at its Bloomington off-the-road tire plant during the next five years to add capacity for new sizes and expand curing capacity for giant loader tires.
The project follows the recent completion of a five-year labor agreement, and will add new jobs, including up to 50 this year, the company said.
"We are expanding our capacity to meet our customers' requirements now and in the future," said Shawn Rasey, vice president, Bridgestone Firestone Off Road Tire Co. "With the strong global demand for off-road tires, it's clear that our customers can rely on our proven technology and products for all of their needs."
The 43-year-old plant, one of two Bridgestone Corp. plants globally dedicated to OTR tires, produces about 300 tires a day with 350 employees, according to information released by the tire maker.
