GREENVILLE, S.C. (Dec. 21, 2007) — General Motors Corp.'s Chevrolet division has selected Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 TM ZP run-flat tires as exclusive standard equipment on the 2009 Corvette ZR1, breaking Goodyear's decades-old stranglehold on that fitment.
The ZR1 is the most powerful Corvette model Chevy has ever produced. Chevy will fit the car with P285/30R19s at the front and P335/25R20s on the rear, according to Michelin North America Inc. The tires are built at a Michelin plant in South Carolina.
Goodyear has had an exclusive fitment with the model since 1978. GM said it plans to make only 2,000 of the vehicles a year.
