AKRON (Dec. 12, 2007) — Akron´s city council has approved the development agreement for a new Goodyear headquarters in the city.
The tire maker announced Dec. 5 it accepted a plan by Industrial Realty Group L.L.C. and local, state and country governments to build a new headquarters and develop its current facilities as a mixed-use center.
Private funds will pay for about $665 million of the $872 million project's cost, the city council president. Local governments will contribute about $207 million.
Ground breaking on the headquarters is scheduled for next year, with the company moving in 2010.
