YANZHOU, China (Nov. 27, 2007) — Pirelli Tyre S.p.A. said it started production of high-performance passenger tires today at its plant in Yanzhou.
The company spent about $100 million in the past two years to build the facility in Shangdong Province, located in an industrial park that includes a truck tire plant owned by Pirelli and partner RoadOne Tyre Co. Ltd.
Output from the passenger tire factory will be marketed in China and throughout Asia.
Among those attending the opening were Riccardo Sessa, Italy's ambassador to China; Pirelli Chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera; Francesco Gori, CEO and general manager of Pirelli Tyre; and Niu Yshun, chairman of Yanhe Group, owner of RoadOne.
