LIONVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 31, 2007) — Medical components maker West Pharmaceutical Services Inc. plans to expand its Kinston, N.C., facility by 37,000 square feet to house several new processes and pieces of equipment.
West is making an $18.7 million commitment during the next three years with the project and creating 154 jobs in Lenoir County, N.C., the company said. In addition, West announced the donation of a 29-acre parcel of land, the site of the company's former facility, to the North Carolina Global TransPark Authority.
The company moved to a plant in Kinston in 2004 after its original facility, located only about four miles away, was destroyed in an explosion and fire in January 2003. Six West employees died in the accident
