WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. (Oct. 30, 2007) — Coim USA Inc. has agreed to acquire Inolex Chemical Co.'s Lexorez and Lexad polyester polyols for an undisclosed amount.
The products are used in the polyurethane flexible foam, coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers industries. The sale is expected to close Nov. 30 and doesn't include any facilities, Coim said.
The products are a significant addition for the Coim plant in West Deptford, which began polyol production in June.
Paul van der Pol, vice president and general manager of the U.S. subsidiary of Italy's Coim S.p.A. said this acquisition will demonstrate Coim USA's commitment to the polyurethane industry in North America.
Coim bought the 135,000-sq.-ft. plant from Huntsman Corp. in 2005 and began making laminating adhesives for the flexible packaging industry. In May the facility started producing prepolymers.
The parent company is a manufacturer of a multitude of product lines servicing the polyurethane industry worldwide. It also has plants in Milan, Italy; Sao Paolo, Brazil; and Singapore.
Inolex, based in Philadelphia, also produces ingredients for the cosmetics industry and lubricant esters.
