TRELLEBORG, Sweden (Oct. 29, 2007) — Trelleborg A.B. reported strong growth in the third quarter and in the nine months ended Sept. 30.
For the quarter, the firm's net profits rose to $33.9 million on an 18-percent increase in sales to $1.17 billion. For the nine months, income advanced to $109 million as sales grew to $3.6 billion.
The company said efficiency measures and a continued focus on the operation of profitable segments resulted in higher growth and improved margins. Operating profits for continuing operations rose 49 percent in the quarter, and all the firm's business segments reported better results.
Trelleborg also noted it is continuing the assist authorities in an ongoing marine hose price-fixing investigation, and its expectation of the financial impact of the situation remains unchanged. Over the summer, the firm estimated the cost of the investigations would be between $11.3 million and $15 million during 2007 and 2008.
